New trends in central authority and business involved women in work, tax forms, self service, pay checks. The new, informal way of living has made her tasks lighter and simpler in some respects, but the safety of the rituals or old school family life is gone.

Bigger equality, a familiarity in the way of living of all classes and her very own individual group pressures have molded her wishes into a new and fundamentally different pattern. Women aren't the only ones to have once been impacted by this 50 year revolution. These new influences of modern living have also transformed the living habits of the North American man.

But the reactions and the perspectives men have developed are quite different from those of their better halves and mas, aunts and sisters, children and grandmas. These variations in reaction are partly thanks to the standard roles that ladies and men were playing at the start of the twentieth century. They also are due partly to forces of ladies American heritage and the wide but basic physical and psychological differences between the sexes.

Contrast today's lady of energy and concern with the picture of the socialite or debutante of years back. The Queen of England provides a brilliant example of modernization in this direction. She's portrayed as a democratic, devoted ma and a woman-of-state with vitality and charm. In fact, she designates to the English the career lady today, handling well the issues and complexities of wife, mummy, and job holder.
