So before you ask yourself that question; you need to ask yourself how your relationship got in this mess in the first place. Is this just your first time on the edge of a break up or divorce? Or is it your second, third, forth or more. If this is the case you should really find out why you are in this constant state of turmoil in your relationship.

It is very important to find the real problem in your marriage and analyze it. To save your marriage you need to get to the real problem or issue. Could the real problem be money, infidelity, not paying attention to your partner; there are many things it could be and you need to find out what it is. One of the big ones is lack of communication. It is the reason for most failed marriages. Marriage is supposed to be a team effort. Communication is the key to any successful team effort, without it the relationship is doomed.

Back to the question at hand, you most certainly can save your marriage. Once you have thought about what has been the breakdown of your marriage; what are you to do now? What tools do you need to get your marriage back on the right track?

One of the most important things to do is listen to your partner. Not agree with everything your partner said; but just listen to them. The way to become a better listener is to practice at it. This is where you make a real effort to hear not only the words that another person is saying but, more importantly, to try and understand the total message they are trying to give you. Effective communication can be hard for some people. Especially when there are various emotions running high.

If this is to hard for you to accomplish on your own than maybe marriage counseling is a option you should think about. It has been proven that couples who attend counseling together reported a big improvement in their communication skills. It is very helpful to have a third party involved. When I say third party, I mean someone that has no connections with either of you. It is essential to have an unbiased opinion. After all this is your marriage we are talking about.

Marriage doesn't make itself or just from into a perfect relationship. It takes effort and hard work on both sides.
